Unless you’ve been living under a rock, you’re aware that the highly anticipated Hawkeye series on Disney+ debuts on November 24th this year. So here’s some of that good ole’ speculation that rolls around in my head on the daily.
Kate Bishop (played by Hailee Steinfeld)
Kate Bishop, in the comics, is the daughter of some rich folks up in Manhattan. She got herself kidnapped for doing some snooping on her father as he was meeting up with a villain named El Matador. Long story short, her dad left and she got caught. The Avengers showed up and Hawkeye (Clint Barton) saved her. Later, she was sexually assaulted, and in dealing with and processing the trauma, she learned several forms of martial arts, swordplay, and archery. I think that we’re going to see her origin story, chiefly Hawkeye saving her become the catalyst for her becoming a hero.
Yelena Belova (Played by Florence Pugh)
We’ve already been introduced to Yelena in the Black Widow movie. In the after-credits scene, we saw Val accuse Clint Barton of her sister’s death. This will most likely come to more of a head in the Hawkeye series. However, I think that Kate Bishop and Maya Lopez’s roles are going to be front and center.
Maya Lopez aka Echo (Played by Alaqua Cox)
Maya Lopez was born deaf, but at a young age began to display an incredible ability to physically mimic the moves of others after observing them for a short time. Her father was an enforcer for the Kingpin, and was eventually killed on Kingpin’s orders (unknown to Maya). Kingpin then took Maya in, and provided her with the best schooling money could buy. Eventually, he used her in a plot to kill Daredevil. However, she realized she was being deceived and shot Kingpin (in the face).
In (speculative) conclusion…
I think we’re going to see the Swordsman (OG Hawkeye baddie) be the main antagonist of the series (Also a previous Thunderbolts member!). Val is definitely going to make an appearance somewhere, and I think chances are equally good that Vincent D’onofrio’s Kingpin will make an appearance. I suspect that they might combine the bad guy that Kate’s dad meets with, and Maya’s father, into the same person. However, if that ISN’T the case, I feel like they’ll go with Sharon Carter as the Power Broker and somehow flesh out the Ronin story line since Kate is rocking the Ronin get-up in the series trailer.
So what do you think will play out in the Hawkeye series? Let me know your thoughts in the comments section!
