The Young Avengers series debuted in 2005 with the likes of Hulkling, Kate Bishop, Wiccan, Patriot, and Iron Lad. Within a few issues, we see Speed and Cassie Lang join the lineup.
WandaVision brought Speed and Wiccan into play. Kate Bishop has been introduced in Hawkeye. Cassie Lang has been a sleeper in the wings for a hot minute as Scott Lang’s (Ant-Man) daughter in the MCU. One of the early Young Avengers foes was Kang the Conqueror, and we know that Jonathon Majors has been cast as Kang for the upcoming Ant-Man 3 film. I expect that’s where we’ll get our first taste of Cassie in action.
I’m not entirely sure how Hulkling and Patriot will be introduced. Given what we know about the upcoming She-Hulk series, I’m not inclined to think Hulkling will make his debut there. It’ll be more about establishing Jennifer Walters’ character, and re-introducing Abomination. As an aside, spending time in the Young Avengers is what brought Hulkling and Wiccan together. So, in terms of representation for the LGBTQ community, I can see that being incorporated into the MCU.
Next, I think we’re going to see Harley Keener take on a larger role (Iron Lad? Even though Iron Lad is technically one of Kangs variants) in the wake of Tony Starks death. Harley, if you don’t recall, is the kid Tony befriended in Iron Man 3 when he was stranded without working armor. However, we also got to see him all grown up at Tony’s funeral at the end of Endgame. I’m sure his being there wasn’t coincidence.
America Chavez will debut in Doctor Strange’s Multiverse of Madness in May of this year, which will likely lay the foundation for Young Avengers (and so much more). The Ms. Marvel series is slated to drop sometime this Summer. The Ironheart series has been anounced, but I don’t think that it’s even hit casting or pre-production yet. Miles Morales is a tricky one. I’m not sure if he’s technically under the Spider-Man umbrella of Sony. However, when he’s introduced, it’s going to be HUGE.
I should add that Ms. Marvel, Ironheart, and Miles Morales have never been part of the Young Avengers. They were/are part of the Champions, but I don’t see Marvel Studios or Feige making that distinction any time soon.
