Doctor Strange and the Multitude of Cameos

The rumor mill is THICK with speculation on who’s going to show up in Doctor Strange’s new MCU installment this May. While nothing has been confirmed by Marvel officials or Kevin Feige, this is where people seem to be placing their figurative bets.

Iron Man
A tweet from IGN India reportedly showing Tom Cruise in a motion capture suit much like the ones Robert Downey Jr. wore during filming surfaced back in January. Here’s the picture in question.

The tweet can be found here

An Inverse article reported that this is likely false given that reputable Marvel-insiders have refuted Tom’s casting as Iron Man. It should also be noted that Warner Bros. is developing a live action series based on Tom Cruise and Emily Blunt’s 2014 “Edge of Tomorrow” movie. So if that is in fact Tom, there’s nothing suggesting it’s Doctor Strange over the Edge of Tomorrow series.

However, IF Tom is actually set to make a cameo, his version of Tony Stark reminds me most of Bendis’ run on Invincible Iron Man Vol. 2 from 2016. Coincidentally enough, that’s the same series that introduced Riri Williams who later becomes Ironheart. The very same Ironheart that’s slated for a Disney+ series within the next few years. Also, *allegedly* Riri Williams will be introduced in the next Black Panther movie.

Clea
Clea is slated to become the new Sorcerer Supreme this coming March in the Marvel comics universe. Clea’s mother was Dormammu’s sister, her father was the son of Olnar, the former ruler of the Dark Dimension. As I mentioned back in the Hellcat post, Dormammu is too big of a baddie to only be in one movie. He’ll be back, and I think introducing Clea would be a perfect segue back into the Dark Dimension. The two actresses rumored to have been considered for the role of Clea were Charlize Theron and Emma Watson. Strong choices in both ladies. I’m not sure who I like better for the character.

Reed Richards / Mr. Fantastic
This last one should come as no surprise to anyone, because these rumors were some of the first to start swirling around the internet after the Multiverse of Madness was announced. The fans (including me) want John Krasinski to play the Fantastic Four leader. And according to another historically accurate Marvel-insider, Reed Richards will make a cameo, but hasn’t divulged who will play him. Aside from Krasinski, the early-2000s Reed, Ioan Gruffudd, could play the part as well. If it’s Gruffudd, that means we could see Jessica Alba’s Susan Storm, Chris Evans’ Johnny Storm, and Michael Chiklis’ Ben Grimm. I personally don’t like the idea of bringing Chris Evans back into the MCU as an older non-Captain America character, so I’m hopeful for Krasinski.

So what do you think about these rumors? Any truth to them? Anyone you think will show up that I haven’t considered or mentioned? Let me know in the comments!
