The newest Thor film just dropped its first teaser trailer today. You can check it out Here.
In the trailer, we see SO MUCH! Kraglin is back, though in what capacity, I’m not entirely sure. We finally got a glimpse of Natalie Portman in costume calling Mjolnir! Note the glowing cracks in it. It was obviously pieced together after Hela destroyed it in Ragnarok, but by who? Russell Crowe brought about Zeus’ debut in what could only be Olympus! I have questions about whether Hercules will make an appearance, now. It was rumored that he and Zeus would play a role of some sort, but to my knowledge, it was never confirmed or denied.
What I’m most curious about now, is Gorr. A couple of weeks ago, we got our first look at Christian Bale’s Gorr the God-Butcher, but he was nowhere to be seen in this trailer.
However, Screen Rant pointed out the snippet from the trailer where Thor and Korg are standing on the mountain looking at the giant, dead monster. Straight out of Jason Aaron’s 2014 “Thor: God of Thunder” it’s from Issue #3 “The Hall of the Lost”. Thor comes to the resting place of Falligar, a friend, Patron God of the Galactic Frontier, and champion of the Tournament of Immortals for five straight centuries.
My final questions: Will Gorr be wielding the Necrosword? If so, does that mean Kevin Feige and Marvel are going the route of Donny Cates’ saga with Knull and Venom? I hope not, because Knull got overplayed HARDCORE (He felt more like Marvel’s response to DC’s Batman Who Laughs, rather than an organic character). I’d rather see Sesame Street’s Ernie wield the Infinity Gauntlet and turn everyone into puppets than see Knull get screen time… but that’s just one less-than-humble opinion from a fellow denizen of the internet.
So what do you think of the new trailer? What sub-plots do you think they’ll start? Any inclinations that Mantis will start the path to becoming the Celestial Madonna? Nova’s debut? Where do you think Feige and Marvel will take Jane Foster’s Thor? Let me know in the comments!
