Hellcat? Who dat?

So if you’ve read my other posts here, you know that there is no doubt in my mind that we’ll see the Defenders resurface in the MCU. Just not with the Netflix team of Luke Cage, Jessica Jones, Iron Fist, and Daredevil. Though on that note, I have no idea where Marvel and Feige might take Matt Murdock’s character.

Hellcat

While not necessarily an OG member, Patricia “Patty” Walker (Rachael Taylor from the Jessica Jones series) becomes Hellcat with the help of X-Men’s Beast, while also assisting the Avengers in an investigation in her ex-husbands company’s shady dealings. Patty also had a considerable run on the Defenders roster and is good friends with Jennifer Walters (AKA She-Hulk). However, Jennifer somewhat forces Patty to register herself under the Superhero Registration Act (which ultimately led to ‘Civil War’ in both comics and the MCU). I don’t think the upcoming She-Hulk series will focus on that, but I feel like it might be a minimal plot point if Patty’s character is involved in the show.

In addition to their personal relationship, Jennifer hires Patty as a private investigator to track down an individual she was representing that had robbed a bank. The perpetrator ended up being an Inhuman with telekinetic powers, and Patty convinced him to return the money he stole.

While these things don’t seem like they’d make for a tantalizing show, I think there’s some merit in suggesting they might be involved (or referenced) in the series. It seems the show is going to be something of a comedy, according to a Murphy’s Multiverse article.

A couple of other ways that Hellcat would fit into the MCU narrative:

Hellcat stumbles upon a town that’s being controlled by one Nicholas Scratch (Agath Harkness’ son). Nicholas is running a cult called the Sons of the Serpent. Hellcat eventually enlists the aid of the Avengers in defeating Nicholas and the cult.

In another arc, Hellcat helps Mephisto and Hela defeat Dormammu. Though, admittedly I know nothing beyond what I read online about this particular story. But we all suspect Mephisto will be a big baddie at some point in the MCU, and we know Dormammu exists thanks to Doctor Strange trapping him in a time loop and getting ceaselessly murdered for our entertainment.

So what do you all think? Will Hellcat make it into the MCU? If so, will she be a main player or more of a supporting role? Let me know what you think in the comments!
